VOLUNTEERISM & FUNDRAISING 

• All families are required to participate in FOUR, University of Michigan Tailgate Trash Clean Ups. This is our largest fundraiser by far and it generates over $10K in revenue for HRA.

• All families are required to volunteer at least 2x throughout the season with Regatta Support. These opportunities include team and food tent set up, meal prep, serving & clean up at regattas.

• All families are required to participate in various fundraising opportunities with the club.

ATTENDANCE POLICY
 

Mandatory Attendance:
Be ready, be on time and come with a positive attitude.

·Athletes will be expected to attend all practices and regattas.
·All athletes will be given four unexcused absences per season.
·After 4 unexcused absence, the athlete will be ineligible to row for the remainder of the season.
-No refunds will be issued for poor attendance.
 
Excusable reasons for missing practice: 
-Serious illness or injury
-Religious holidays recognized by AAPS
-Family emergencies
-Classes granting a letter grade such as Music
 
Inexcusable reasons for missing practice:
-Medical appointments, if not pre-coordinated with a coach and documented by a doctor’s note
-Heavy course load or homework
-Last minute study groups or exam reviews
-Extracurricular activities
-After school projects
-School dances unless pre-coordinated according to a pre-season guide
-Any reason not listed under excusable that hasn’t been discussed with a coach
 
Why Mandatory?
-Athletes can learn lessons in crew that they carry with them for the rest of their lives.
-Respect for the team and boat line ups. If a rower misses practice, it not only jeopardizes their seat in the boat, but the boat as a whole.
